We have a loaded 16-game slate in the majors Saturday, beginning at 2:05 p.m. ET. Before first pitch between the San Francisco Giants and Washington Nationals, we’ll take a look at the best games on the schedule, rookies to keep an eye out for, and spotlight a relevant fantasy option.
Best Games To Watch
Thanks to some inclement weather a couple of days ago in the nation’s capital, we have 16 games to watch throughout the day on Saturday across the majors. However, there’s only three games that are really worth checking out. The first being the San Diego Padres and New York Mets as they play the second game of their three-game series at 4:10 p.m. ET. This game features a great pitching matchup between Joe Musgrove (4-5, 2.33 ERA) and Marcus Stroman (5-4, 2.41 ERA).
For the night slate, fans will get a chance to watch one of three different games on FOX at 7:15 p.m. ET depending on what part of the country you live in. We have the San Francisco Giants and Washington Nationals playing the second game of their double-header, the St. Louis Cardinals taking on the Chicago Cubs, and the Houston Astros facing off against the Minnesota Twins.
Kansas City Royals veteran catcher Salvador Perez is quietly putting together another All-Star season. Perez has been a solid option in both standard fantasy baseball or DFS as he plays an integral role in the Royals’ offense. The 31-year-old is hitting .285 with 16 HRs, 42 RBI, and averaging 8.2 fantasy points per game. His 16 HRs is tied for sixth in MLB and first among catchers.
Perez has reached base safely in five consecutive games, which includes two multi-hit performances. Over that span of time, he is averaging 10.4 fantasy points per game, which would put him up there with Ronald Acuna Jr., Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and Fernando Tatis Jr.
Rookies to Watch
At 4:07 p.m. ET, the Kansas City Royals and Oakland Athletics will be both starting rookie pitchers in the third game of their four-game series. Jackson Kowar, who was recently called up from Triple-A will be making his second MLB start for the Royals. Meanwhile, for Oakland, James Kaprielian will be making his sixth MLB start. Kaprielian is 2-1 with a 3.08 ERA and is only giving up two runs or less in 4 out of 5 outings this season.
