Pitching matchups for Tuesday’s MLB games

MLB’s Tuesday slate will feature a string of games that will begin with a Reds-Twins game at 1:10 p.m. ET and end with a pair of 10:10 p.m. ET games featuring Dodgers-Padres and Rockies-Mariners. Here are some of the best pitchers to watch.

Best matchup: Gerrit Cole vs. Brady Singer

The New York Yankees’ Cole ranks fifth in strikeouts with 117 and excels at limiting walks like no other pitcher. He averaged just 1.20 walks per nine innings and has only handed out 12 free passes this year. Cole has been a bright spot for the Yankees’ pitching staff and is en route to racking up his third straight season with a LOB% above 83. The Kansas City Royals’ Singer will likely have a tough time against a New York lineup.

Sleeper matchup: Zach Wheeler vs. TBD

There’s been no word on who the Washington Nationals will start on Wednesday, but the Philadelphia Phillies’ ace is sure to put on a show. Wheeler ranks fourth in strikeouts with 118 and has reached career highs in WHIP (0.93) and ERA (2.15). The Nationals outscored the New York Mets 11-4 in their last two games, so Philly’s defense could be in for a real test.
