With 13 games on the slate, all 26 of 30 MLB teams are scheduled to take the field on Wednesday, June 23rd. Fans can follow along throughout the day as the first game is set to take place at 12:35 p.m. ET with the final first pitch at 10:00 p.m. ET. Let’s take a look at what to watch as we get ready for the day.
Best Games To Watch
If you decide to only watch one game on Wednesday, your top option is likely going to be the San Diego Padres hosting the Los Angeles Dodgers in the final game of the series. This rivalry appears to have staying power, and San Diego will go for the sweep. Both teams have 44 wins, though the Dodgers lost just 29 times, while the Padres dropped 32 games. San Francisco still leads the incredibly competitive National League West.
Another fantastic viewing option would be the Boston Red Sox on the road against the Tampa Bay Rays in the second of a three-game set. The two are 1.5 games apart for the best record in the American League East with Boston leading the way.
DraftKings Sportsbook has the over/under at 10 runs for the Houston Astros vs. Baltimore Orioles game for the highest total of the day. Baltimore starter Thomas Eshelman appeared in his first game of the season last week and played well, allowing just one run in 4.2 innings, but the Astros should jump all over him on Wednesday night. Until yesterday, Houston had scored at least six runs in seven of their last eight games. Sluggers like Carlos Correa and Jose Altuve might be worth the price, and Michael Brantley is likely the best option. He recorded multiple hits four games in a row as he increased his batting average to .353.
Rookies to Watch
Trevor Rogers will get the start for the Miami Marlins in their game against the Toronto Blue Jays. He has been nothing short of fantastic this season with a 7-3 record and 1.87 ERA through 14 starts. In that same game, be sure to keep tabs on Marlins’ rookie infielder Jazz Chisholm. In 49 games this season, Chisholm has cooled off a bit recently, and he now has a .258 batting average and knocked out eight home runs.
