How to watch, what to watch for on June 27 of the 2021 MLB regular season

We take a look at the games on slate for Sunday, June 27 in the 2021 MLB season.

Sunday’s 15-game MLB slate will begin with an Orioles-Bue Jays matchup at 1:07 p.m. and end with a 7:00 p.m. matchup between the Cubs and Dodgers. While the weekend’s games will come to an early end, there’s plenty of quality games to watch. Here are our thoughts on the best matchups, fantasy options, and rookies to watch ahead of the first pitch.

Best Games To Watch

The Braves and Reds are two of the best power-hitting teams in MLB. Atlanta doesn’t have the same efficiency at the plate as Cincinnati, but both clubs have belted more than 100 home runs this season. Neither team has won two straight contests in the four-game series, and both teams could run up the score in a barn burner with a hot night.

The Cubs and Dodgers are both second in their respective divisions. Chicago shut out LA 4-0 in the first installment of the four-game series, but the Dodgers recovered by notching two straight wins at Dodger Stadium. Clayton Kershaw will take the mound for the home team. While he’s lost three of his last four starts, he’s tallied at least seven strikeouts in every June game he’s appeared in.

Fantasy Spotlight

The Orioles’ Jorge Lopez is one of 15 pitchers who’s given up at least 45 earned runs this season. He’ll be up against a Blue Jays team that’s led by the electric Vladimir Guerreo Jr. Guerrero is arguably the best batter in baseball with league highs in home runs (26) and RBIs 64. He’s likely to drive in his fair share of runs against mediocre pitching.

Rookies to Watch

The Rangers’ Adolis Garcia has notched 10 hits, eight RBIs, and four home runs over his last 10 games and has gone yard 20 times in his rookie season. The Royals’ Brady singer walked five batters and gave up a pair of home runs against the Yankees in his last start and could give Garcia plenty of baserunners to drive home. Only Ryan Mountcastle can top Garci’s 55 RBIs among rookies.
