Update, June 29th — Santiago will face a 10-game suspension for his use of a foreign substance which led to an ejection during Sunday’s game vs. the White Sox. Santiago will appeal the suspension.
We’ve got a new trivia answer in our back pocket after Sunday. Seattle Mariners P Hector Santiago became the first pitcher to be ejected because of the MLB’s foreign substance policy. Santiago’s glove was disposed in a garbage bag and he took the news with a smile on Sunday afternoon vs. the Chicago White Sox. Check out the video here:

Santiago was inspected by umpires in the 5th inning vs. the ChiSox and was promptly ejected after allowing one run on three hits with four strikeouts through 2.1 innings pitched. At this point, we’re not really sure what foreign substance Santiago was using, but it appears it was inside his glove.
