Jacob deGrom is currently dominating baseball at levels unforseen in the Modern Era. If he gets bored and decides to move on to another sport, don’t be surprised to see him show up in a wrestling ring.
The Mets’ ace an had impromptu match inside Atlanta’s Truist Park prior to Tuesday’s game versus the Braves. And he displayed pretty clean form as he got the best of some helpless catcher.
Takedown! What would Jacob deGrom’s wrestling name be?@Mets I NTT #BallparkCam pic.twitter.com/CVow4WLYbP

Good manuvering, good weight distribution, hooks the legs properly ... bravo, sir. I’ll leave any suggestions for what deGrom’s wrestling moniker should be to the comments section.
But obviously, the real takeaway from that clip is WHY IS JACOB DEGROM WRESTLING RIGHT NOW?! Here’s a man with the fate of a franchise almost literally resting on his right shoulder, a man who has dealt with multiple nagging injuries this season — and he’s out here roughhousing it between starts? Someone do a wellness check on Steve Cohen and Luis Rojas.
deGrom is scheduled to start Thursday in Atlanta. Place him in bubble wrap until then! The Mets and the baseball-loving world need him too much.
