Best Matchup: Zack Greinke vs. Hyun Jin Ryu
For it to be a Friday night in the majors, we have a few good matchups and several quality starting pitchers on the mound. It was tough to narrow down the best matchup out of all the 15 games, but I think we could be in store for a pitchers duel between Zack Greinke of the Astros and Hyun Jin Ryu of the Blue Jays. Greinke is 5-2 with an ERA of 3.67 this season and 2-1 with a 2.45 ERA in his last three starts. Ryu has been one of the best pitchers in the AL with a 5-2 record and 2.62 ERA this season.
Sleeper Matchup: Julio Urias vs. Ian Anderson
On most nights, this matchup between Julio Urias and Ian Anderson is one of the best. But with Greinke and Ryu headlining Friday’s card, we’re getting a great undercard in Urias and Anderson. Urias has a record of 7-2 and an ERA of 3.61, despite a rough outing last week against San Francisco. Anderson has been one of the best rookies this season and a steady arm in the Braves’ rotation. The 23-year-old starter has a 4-2 record and 3.27 ERA with 59 strikeouts.
