Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is at the top of the home run table. For now.

The Toronto Blue Jays star blasted his 18th long ball of the season, giving his team a 6-1 lead against the Houston Astros. Here’s the play.

Guerrero’s 18 home runs rank ahead of Atlanta Braves slugger Ronald Acuna Jr. and San Diego Padres youngster Fernando Tatis Jr. Those two have 17 home runs each and will be in action later Saturday when the Braves face the Dodgers and the Padres face off with the Mets.

After hitting 15 home runs in his rookie season and nine in the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign, Guerrero will set a career high for long balls this year. The question is whether he can challenge Jose Bautista’s single-season franchise record of 54 home runs, set in 2010. The Blue Jays also set a record for home runs as a team that season with 257. Toronto has 84 home runs as a team so far this year.
