We have another full 15-game slate on Wednesday in the majors with the first game starting at 2:05 p.m. ET between the San Francisco Giants and Texas Rangers. We are going to look at the best pitching matchup and the sleeper pitching matchup that could turn out to be a pitchers’ duel.

Best Matchup: Alek Manoah vs. Lance Lynn

There aren’t a lot of good pitching matchups on Wednesday’s slate, in comparison to who was on the mound Tuesday night. However, we do have one great matchup at 8:10 p.m. ET between the Toronto Blue Jays and Chicago White Sox. Rookie pitcher Alek Manoah will be making his third MLB start, while the White Sox will give the ball to AL Cy Young candidate Lance Lynn.

Manoah has a 1-0 record and 3.86 ERA in two starts this season. The Blue Jays’ top pitching prospect struggled in his last start against Miami Marlins, allowing 4 hits (3 HRs), 4 earned runs, 3 walks, but still produced 5 strikeouts in 3.1 IP. As for Lynn, he has a record of 7-1 and an ERA of 1.23 in 10 outings this season. In his last seven starts, the 34-year-old pitcher has a record of 6-0 and a 1.38 ERA.

Sleeper Matchup: Chris Flexen vs. Casey Mize

This might not be a flashy pitching matchup and one that might not sound appealing, but both young starting pitchers have had their good moments this season. Mariners starting pitcher Chris Flexen has a record of 5-3 and 4.70 ERA. Flexen will try to put his road woes behind him as he possesses an ERA of 8.10 in four road outings. Tigers starter Casey Mize has a record of 3-4 and 3.34 ERA in 11 starts. Mize has already faced this Seattle Mariners’ team earlier this season, where he only allowed 3 hits, 1 earned run, 1 walk, and put up 6 strikeouts in 7.2 IP.
