Chicago Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo and 3B Kris Bryant are not in the lineup for Thursday afternoon’s game vs. the Cincinnati Reds. Both players could be moved before the MLB Trade Deadline on Friday at 4 p.m. ET. Rizzo and Bryant could be dealt today or tomorrow with the Cubs expected to have a fire sale. It is worth noting that SS Javier Baez is back in the lineup this afternoon and it appears he isn’t going anywhere until the offseason.

Baez had been dealing with a heel injury and he’s back batting cleanup. The San Francisco Giants, New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers appear interested in some of the Cubs available players, which also includes closer Craig Kimbrel. Bryant could end up on the Giants in a trade centered around top catching prospect Joey Bart, per reports. The Tampa Bay Rays appear to also be in on Bryant.
As for Rizzo, the Boston Red Sox are rumored to be interested in re-acquiring the slugger. Remember, the Red Sox drafted Rizzo back in 2007 and he was traded as part of the Adrian Gonzalez deal a while back before landing in Chicago.
