We have a full 17-game slate in the majors Wednesday, beginning at 12:10 p.m. ET. There are a lot good matchups happening across the league that will not only have betting but also fantasy implications. Over the course of the day, we will be keeping up to date with the latest injury and lineup news before first pitch between the Cleveland Indians and Tampa Bay Rays.
We will be waiting to see if the Indians and Rays play their doubleheader today as Hurricane Elsa is making landfall in Tampa Bay. We also have another double play on tap between the Milwaukee Brewers and New York Mets. In their first game at 2:10 p.m. ET, Corbin Burnes will be going up against Jacob deGrom. That should be a tremendous game between two of the best pitchers in the National League.
Alongside Burnes and deGrom, Kyle Gibson, Lance Lynn, and Zack Wheeler will all be on the mound for their respective teams. Gibson will be making his first All-Star Game appearance for the Rangers with a 6-0 record and 1.98 ERA. Wheeler will also be making his appearance in the All-Star Game and has a 6-4 record and 2.05 ERA.
MLB lineup and injury news — Wednesday, July 7th
Kyle Farmer not in starting lineup vs. Royals
Cincinnati Reds manager David Bell told reporters Wednesday that infielder Kyle Farmer is dealing with body soreness and is not in the lineup for this afternoon’s game against Kansas City, per Mark Sheridan. Farmer will be replaced at SS by Mike Freeman, who will be batting eighth in the batting order. Freeman is hitting .182 with no HRs and 2 RBI this season and will be making his second start in the Reds’ last 20 games.
Rays place Margot on IL, call-up Brujan from minors
The Tampa Bay Rays moved two major roster moves on Wednesday morning. They first placed outfielder Manuel Margot on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring injury. He suffered the injury in Monday night’s series opener against the Cleveland Indians. To replace Margot on the active roster, the Rays called up their No. 2 prospect INF/OF Vidal Brujan. The 23-year-old will serve as the 27th man in today’s doubleheader. Brujan will be joining Taylor Walls and Wander Franco as the other top prospects to be promoted from the minors.
