Per the Nets’ officially injury report Wednesday, PG Kyrie Irving (shoulder) is listed as questionable to play in Thursday’s contest vs. the Nuggets.
This is a new injury for Irving, who was unable to help Brooklyn pull out a win after blowing a big lead vs. the Jazz on Tuesday. Irving dropped 27 points with five assists, but shot 33% from the field (10-for-30) and 2-of-12 from distance.
With Caris LeVert also sidelined due to a thumb injury, Brooklyn could be very thin in the backcourt going into a tough matchup vs. Denver.
We look at what impact Irving’s absence would have on the lineup.
Fantasy Basketball Analysis, Brooklyn Nets PG Kyrie Irving
Like I mentioned above, LeVert is also out and if Irving were to miss Thursday’s game, the Nets would likely turn heavily to Spencer Dinwiddie. Normally coming off the bench, Dinwiddie would likely be inserted into the starting lineup and be in line for huge minutes and usage. He scored 21 points against Utah the other night and is one of the premier bench scorers in the NBA, so any type of bump is huge for fantasy. We’ll have to see what his price is on DraftKings, but Dinwiddie would likely be the chalk guard play tomorrow if Irving sits.
Other options include Joe Harris, who could see some time at point guard and would be in line for more shots. Taurean Prince would also be a solid value with no Irving.
