According to a report from the Chris Hine of the Star Tribune, the Timberwolves will be without the services of forward Andrew Wiggins due to a personal matter Friday vs. the Wizards. This is a bit sudden and will have a bit of a trickle-down effect on Minnesota’s lineup and the betting lines on DraftKings Sportsbook for this game.
How Should You Approach Andrew Wiggins’ Absence in DFS and Betting?
Wiggins ($8,300) had been on a nice scoring tear, dropping at least 30 points in four of five games. He had topped 52.5 DKFP in back-to-back games and now he’s out. I already loved Karl-Anthony Towns ($10,000) on this slate and he becomes a lock in cash lineups. The matchup vs. the Wizards is insanely good and I don’t think this should hurt the high-scoring prediction for this game. It’ll still be a up-and-down, scoring-fest.
I think the two players that get the biggest boost are Jeff Teague ($5,300) and Robert Covington ($4,800). Both are great value plays and I highlighted this game as a stack option. With Wiggins out of the way, it’s even easier to fit in KAT and Bradley Beal ($8,500). Jarrett Culver ($4,500) should also get a long look in GPPs.
As far as betting the game, I still like the T-Wolves on the moneyline and spread at -7. The O/U is currently at 242, though I could see that dropping a bit, so attacking the under may be the way to go. The game will still have tons of fantasy points and scoring even if the OVER doesn’t hit.
