Kyrie Irving ruled out again Friday, won’t play against Celtics

Point guard to miss second straight game vs. his former team.

It’s safe to say we won’t get any more fuel on this fire. Nets PG Kyrie Irving (shoulder) will miss his eighth straight game Friday when Brooklyn welcomes in the Boston Celtics for the second of a back-to-back. Irving was unable to suit up for Wednesday’s game in Boston, which was probably a good idea on his part.

Celtics fans weren’t too pleased with Irving after he left during the offseason, prompting plenty of chants during the game Wednesday despite Kyrie not even being there. Not that there would be any kind of chants with the Nets at home, but Irving also went on an Instagram rant after the fact.

With Irving still sidelined, it’s status quo in the Nets lineup, with Spencer Dinwiddie starting and acting as the primary ball-handler, a role he’s thrived in with Kyrie out. Nets-Celtics is off the main slate, however, with a Noon ET start time.
