Report: Ty Lue will most likely end up as Clippers head coach

‘It’s not a forgone conclusion’ that the Clippers assistant will end up taking over for Doc Rivers, who is now coach of the Sixers.

The Los Angeles Clippers decided to get rid of Doc Rivers after seven seasons and another ousting from the playoffs. Rivers quickly struck a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers after just a few days. Now, eyes are on the Clippers, who need to hire a new coach. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, it’s “not a forgone conclusion” that Lue will end up as the next head coach of the Clippers.

Lue is best known as the coach who took over for David Blatt before the Cavaliers won their title back in 2016. Ty Lue is also known for getting stepped over by Allen Iverson while playing for the Lakers in the 2001 NBA Finals. Lue has been spending his time on the Clippers bench behind Rivers, though the former player is also interviewing with the Pelicans and Rockets. Still, it seems like Ty Lue will ultimately take the Clips job with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George for another season.
