Daryl Morey is set to begin his stint as the Philadelphia 76ers’ head coach in 2020 and it appears like he’ll also have a role decision making of the franchise. Morey is expected to oversee Philadelphia’s basketball operations, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Elton Brand is expected to keep his position as the 76ers’ general manager but will collaborate with Morey to guide Philadelphia in the right direction as one half of a one-two punch, according to the Athletic’s David Aldridge. The next phase of “The Process” is around the corner.
Philadelphia prides itself on defense and has assembled a group of lanky stoppers led by Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. While the 76ers are one of the most physically imposing teams in the NBA, lack of shooting and floor spacing has hurt them in recent years. Morey is renowned as an offensive mastermind and could help Philadelphia raise its scoring potential. Some of the 76ers’ less gifted offensive players could find themselves on the trading block ahead this offseason to build a team more suited for playing under Morey.
