The NBA 2K “Players-Only” tournament will take place this weekend and will air on ESPN. The field was recently announced for the event and we’ve got brackets in April, baby! Kevin Durant and Trae Young come in as the 1-2 seeds overall. Devin Booker, Donovan Mitchell, Hassan Whiteside, DeMarcus Cousins, Deandre Ayton and Zach LaVine are among the field of 16 players. That’s more than enough All-Star power for one video game tournament. Let’s take a look at the bracket, shall we?

(1) Kevin Durant vs. (16) Derrick Jones Jr.
(8) Montrezl Harrell vs. (9) Domantas Sabonis

(4) Donovan Mitchell vs. (13) Rui Hachimura
(5) Devin Booker vs. (12) Michael Porter Jr.

(2) Trae Young vs. (15) Harrison Barnes
(7) Zach LaVine vs. (10) Deandre Ayton

(3) Hassan Whiteside vs. (14) Patrick Beverley
(6) Andre Drummond vs. (11) DeMarcus Cousins

The matchups are set up how a normal 16-team bracket would look. Pretty similar to one region in the NCAA Tournament. We got a quarters worth of March Madness coming up. I’m searching for some narratives that may come up from this tourney. A dream final is Durant vs. Pat Bev. If we get to see the players broadcast and mic’d up during the games, I can only imagine how much trash Beverley is going to talk to KD or anyone really.

It’s been a tough couple of seasons for Boogie Cousins and I’d like to see him come out and establish himself early on against fellow big man Andre Drummond. We get a classic 5-12 upset spot with Book going up against Michael Porter Jr., who looks like the type of youngster who plays a lot of 2K.
