We knew the looming issue between Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert would be a narrative in the bubble. This was just a scrimmage, but the Utah Jazz didn’t look that great in a 101-88 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Thursday night. Gobert played 20+ minutes but only managed 5 points and 6 rebounds in the loss. Mitchell was efficient, though it’s clear the defense was lax for Utah.

The Suns looked energized as many teams have back on the court. Devin Booker had an off shooting night but his teammates picked him up a bit. The Suns didn’t have Ricky Rubio, Kelly Oubre Jr. and Aron BaynesBaynes and Rubio both tested positive for Covid-19. They could be back with the team but Oubre won’t after undergoing surgery. Here are some notable stats for each team:

Phoenix Suns stats

Devin Booker: 13 points
Deandre Ayton: 13 points, 8 rebounds
Mikal Bridges: 14 points, 5 rebounds
Dario Saric: 12 points, 6 rebounds

Utah Jazz stats

Donovan Mitchell: 17 points, 4 assists
Rudy Gobert: 5 points, 6 rebounds
Mike Conley: 12 points
Jordan Clarkson: 14 points, 5 rebounds
