The NBA is inching closer to a return at the end of July. The 22 teams participating in the restart of the 2019-20 season have made their way to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Training Camps for each team will run from July 9 through July 29 with scrimmages right up to the season reopening on July 30. With the New Orleans Pelicans beginning training camp, we’ll be tracking all the latest news and injuries here.

New Orleans Pelicans Training Camp news updates

July 16th — Zion Williamson leave camp for family medical matter

The Pelicans announced Thursday the Williamson will be stepping away from the team to attend to an urgent medical matter involving a family member. It’s unclear how long Williamson will be out of Florida, but he plans on returning to the bubble to play and help New Orleans’ playoff push. If the star rookie misses an extended period of time, it could affect his team’s playoff and title odds significantly.

July 7 — Brandon Ingram was never concerned with pending RFA

Ingram is one of the top players on the Pelicans and will certainly be apart of their core moving forward. So he was never concerned about becoming a restricted free agent after this season. This obviously would have made his bubble decision a bit tougher, but he’s going to play out the rest of the season.
