The NBA is inching closer to a return at the end of July. The 22 teams participating in the restart of the 2019-20 season have made their way to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Training Camps for each team will run from July 9 through July 29 with scrimmages right up to the season reopening on July 30. With the Portland Trail Blazers beginning training camp, we’ll be tracking all the latest news and injuries here.
Portland Trail Blazers Training Camp news updates
July 17th — Carmelo Anthony moving back to small forward
Anthony has logged a lot of minutes at power forward this year, but that’s about to change, The swingman has lost some weight and told reporters Friday that he’ll be moving to small forward with the return of Jusuf Nurkic and Zach Collins around the corner and Trevor Ariza out of the picture. His rebounding could drop with this change, but more time in the perimeter could mean more production from beyond the arc.
July 9 — Meyers Leonard rocking SICK gaming setup in bubble
With all players in the bubble in Orlando, we know they won’t have much to do outside of basketball. Leonard isn’t concerned about that at all. Check out his insane gaming setup with multiple computers, headsets, the works.
The Blazers will have Nurk Daddy at full healthy for the return of the season. With Nurkic and Hassan Whiteside in the same front court, there are reports that Nurk could play some PF in the starting lineup. Remember, Portland also gets back Zach Collins in the front court. It’ll be interesting to see how all three of them mesh along with Carmelo Anthony at SF/PF.
