Report: Montrezl Harrell wins 6th Man of the Year award

Clippers PF came off the bench during the regular season but was a staple during crunch time.

Los Angeles Clippers PF Montrezl Harrell will be named the NBA’s 6th Man of the Year, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported on Friday afternoon. We don’t yet know how the voting shaped out, but this seems like Oklahoma City Thunder G Dennis Schroder might have been robbed.

Harrell played 61 of 63 games this season off the bench for the Clippers, who finished second in the Western Conference standings. He averaged 18.6 points and 7.1 rebounds in 27.8 minutes per game. Harrell pretty much set career highs across the board this season and was a staple in the Clippers’ crunch time lineup during the regular season.

Schroder had a pretty insane season off the bench himself. He averaged 18.9 points per game while shooting 47/38/84 for the Thunder, who surprised pretty much everyone by making the playoffs this season. Schroder, like Harrell, did most of his damage late in games for OKC. He was apart of plenty of 3-guard sets with Chris Paul and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
