New York Knicks rookie forward Obi Toppin is expected to participate in the 2021 NBA Dunk Contest, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported Friday afternoon. The NBA All-Star Game will take place in Atlanta on Sunday, March 7. The dunk contest will be held at halftime of the game and Toppin appears to be the first player to throw his name into the ring.

This still needs confirmation, so we’ll see if Toppin comes out and makes an announcement. The media asked New Orleans Pelicans PF Zion Williamson if he was going to take part in the dunk contest this year. Zion didn’t say he wasn’t, so the possibility is still open. Toppin hasn’t played much this season due to injury. We have seen plenty of dunk highlights from Toppin’s time at Dayton in the NCAA. Toppin has also made some highlights in the NBA so far.
