The Mavericks are making the push for the postseason with a few big wins this past week. Dallas has knocked off the Los Angeles Clippers and Denver Nuggets, two teams with championship aspirations. At 21-18, the Mavs hold down the No. 8 spot in the conference. Luka Doncic is coming off 42 points in 43 minutes in the win over the Clips. If he wants to get back into the MVP conversation, he’ll need to do more of this in victories.
The Blazers just swept a two-game set with the New Orleans Pelicans, two very different games. The first, Damian Lillard had to drop 50 points in a comeback win that was a track meet. The second, a slugfest of a game that ended with Portland holding the Pels to under 40 percent shooting while also struggling on offense. The Blazers do a good job finding ways to win. They’ll need that ability in order to fend off Doncic.
