The Lakers are finally getting one of their two superstars back on Thursday night. Anthony Davis (calf) told reporters on Wednesday that he’s planning on playing against the Mavericks. We’ll likely need to see if AD has a designation on the injury report, plus he’ll likely be on a minutes restriction in his first game back. Either way, it’s a good sign for the Lakers, who are in 5th place in the West and are comfortable in that spot.
The Mavericks are not so comfortable in the 7-seed in the West with just a few games on the Memphis Grizzlies in 8th place. The Mavs need to make up some ground to try and avoid the play-in tournament. Dallas trails the Portland Trail Blazers by 0.5 games for 6th place. Kristaps Porzingis and Maxi Kleber could both be held out Thursday with injuries, which would make it tough for Dallas down low, particularly with Davis back.
