Entering the NBA playoffs as the Eastern Conference’s No. 7 seed, the Celtics trail this series 3-1 heading into Game 5 of the series. Boston hasn’t been the same since losing their second leading scorer Jaylen Brown late in the regular season. Additionally, the Celtics were without Kemba Walker and Robert Williams III in Sunday’s loss as they are facing elimination on Tuesday night.
The Nets could close out the Celtics with a victory to move on to the second round. The trio of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden have bigger aspirations in their first postseason together, and a quick series in Round 1 would be ideal to keep the group fresh for a deeper run through the playoffs. Durant has been just about unstoppable as a scorer in this series, averaging 34.8 points per game in four contests. Assuming they can close out the Celtics, Brooklyn could be without Jeff Green till at least the second round with a foot injury.
