NBA veteran forward Michael Beasley has agreed to play for the Portland Trail Blazers at the 2021 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas in August, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported on Thursday afternoon.
The last time Beasley played in the NBA was back in 2018-19 for the Los Angeles Lakers. The former No. 2 overall draft pick back in 2008, Beasley has played 11 seasons in the NBA for the Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets, Phoenix Suns, Milwaukee Bucks and New York Knicks. It’s unclear why Beasley is playing with Portland at the Summer League, which is basically a showcase of first and second-year players.
Most eyes have been on the Blazers the past few weeks with rumblings that PG Damian Lillard may force a trade out. The team just brought in Chauncey Billups to replace Terry Stotts as head coach. Lillard was not involved in the process at all and now it’s unclear if he’ll play for the Blazers next season. Beasley doesn’t really relate to any of this but you know how trolls will react to the news.
