The NBA released its 2021-2022 regular season schedule on Friday. We’ve got a look at the Los Angeles Lakers key games and notable odds with the draft a wrap and free agency mostly behind us.

The 2019-20 NBA Champions were unable to recreate their previous season as they eked into the playoffs thanks to a 103-100 win over the Warriors in the play-in tournament, but they exited quickly at the hands of the Phoenix Suns who defeated them 4-2 in the first round. Earlier in the season they looked like real title contenders with LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the way, while bringing in key guys like Montrezl Harrell, Marc Gasol, and Dennis Schroder. Unfortunately for LA, both Davis and James suffered injuries that kept them out long-term as they watched their team slip further down the standings. By the time they were both on the court together again, they couldn’t put together the performances they needed to make a playoff run.

The Lakers made waves on draft day when it was announced they signed Russell Westbrook from the Wizards in exchange for Montrezl Harrell, Kyle Kuzma, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. LA also sent an immediate first-round draft pick their way while Washington threw two future second-round picks back to the Lakers. In addition, the Lakers also picked up Carmelo Anthony on a one-year deal from Portland, which should add some decent points off the bench. They also signed Kent Bazemore, Dwight Howard, Wayne Ellington, and Trevor Ariza to veteran-minimum deals to shore up their depth ahead of the upcoming season. Finally, the Lakers also secured Kendrick Nunn on a two-year $10 million contract, while bringing in Malik Monk on a one-year deal.
