The New England Patriots placed kicked Stephen Gostkowski on injured reserve a little over a week ago due to a hip injury, and it has been rough sledding ever since. The team signed Mike Nugent, and he has been a little less than stellar. In Week 6 Thursday Night football, he doinked a a 40-yard field goal attempt off the left upright. It’s worth noting the laces were facing the wrong way. However, although Nugent also has three extra points, a couple of those looked a little shaky.
A week ago, Nugent made his Patriots debut against Washington. He converted both field goal attempts in that game, but missed one of his four extra points.
Fantasy football analysis, Patriots kicker Mike Nugent
There aren’t many good options available at this point in the season, but you have to wonder if the Patriots kick the tires on other kickers. The missed field goal is on the holder, but you have to wonder what that might do to Nugent’s confidence. For the time being, he’s a decent fantasy option, but any Patriots kicker is decent at least from a volume perspective.
