Broncos getting calls about WR Emmanuel Sanders

The trade rumors are picking up for Denver, even as the Broncos show some signs of life. We break down the fantasy football implications of Emmanuel Sanders trade rumors.

The Denver Broncos have won two straight to improve to 2-4 on the season, but that is not stopping the vultures from circling. Trade rumors are starting to circulate, and wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders figures prominently. Notable teams like the Patriots, Packers, 49ers, and Saints have inquired but been rebuffed, according to Denver radio host Ben Allbright.

Allbright tweeted that the Broncos have told teams Sanders is not available right now. Considering their two game win streak, that makes sense. The Broncos have played less than stellar opposition in beating the Chargers and Titans the past two weeks, but wins are wins.

Tonight’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs will be a big indicator of where they stand. Following that game, the Broncos travel to Indianapolis and host Cleveland before their Week 10 bye. The NFL trade deadline is October 29th, so they would have to make any decision after that Colts game. If they lose both games to the Chiefs and Colts, that could make John Elway a little more amenable to dealing away Sanders at the deadline.

Courtland Sutton has emerged as the Broncos leading receiver, with 30 receptions for 477 yards and three touchdowns. Sanders is second in each category, and the next closest wide receiver is 2018 second round pick DaeSean Hamilton. In six games this season, Hamilton has nine receptions for 102 yards. He got some run in Week 6 when Sanders was ruled out for the second half, but is likely taking a step back tonight with Sanders expected to be full go for Thursday Night Football.
