This 49ers player covered in mud sums up Week 7 vs. Washington

It was an ugly one at FedEx Field, but the 49ers improved to 6-0 and got to celebrate in the rain.

The San Francisco 49ers beat Washington 9-0 in a hideous Week 7 game that was played in driving rain. It marked the first time since 2017 that an NFL game has gone scoreless in the first half as the 49ers managed three field goals in the second half to remain undefeated.

Washington was a 9.5-point underdog at DraftKings Sportsbook, which means they managed to cover the spread even though they did not score a single point. They were intent on running the ball, never passing on the first drive and generally sticking with Adrian Peterson. Case Keenum threw 12 times while AP rushed 20 times.

San Francisco won ugly, and while they just missed the cover, they remain undefeated straight up (4-2 against the spread). The rain and muck showed up with players sliding around on the ground and generally loading up on mud. With professional photographers on hand, that means we got to see some fun pictures of players covered in mud. Mike Person had the best pictures by a long shot.

If you ever wanted to know what a 9-0 victory where the loser covered looks like, I can’t think of anything better than these. It was an ugly win for the 49ers, but it kept them undefeated. Sometimes you gotta get a little dirty, but sometimes it can be a ton of fun.
