The NFL closes out Week 8 Sunday with a Sunday Night Football matchup that went from potentially the matchup of the year to just another game. The Kansas City Chiefs host the Green Bay Packers, and unfortunately we will not get to see Patrick Mahomes face off against Aaron Rodgers. Mahomes dislocated his knee cap last week and is expected to miss a few weeks. The injury was not as serious as initially expected, but it is enough that Mahomes won’t play on Sunday.
The Chiefs sit atop the AFC West at 5-2, while the Packers lead the NFC North at 6-1. Mahomes will not play, but with his knee cap dislocation not expected to cost him more than three to five weeks, this could still end up being a Super Bowl preview.
Green Bay opened as a field goal favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook, but the line has climbed to 5.5 points with the point total sitting at 48. Mahomes is worth at least six points in the point spread so this line might have opened at Chiefs -3 or -4 before the movement.
The big question with Mahomes sidelined is what to make of his replacement, Matt Moore. Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce should be relatively productive, but can anybody say with certainty how the offense will look with Moore at the helm? If someone says they can, they’re lying.
Whatever the case, there will be plenty of betting and fantasy implications in this game. We’ll be tracking everything for the game. Check back here throughout for everything that goes down in what still might be a potential Super Bowl preview.
