The New England Patriots host the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football to open Week 6 of the 2019 NFL season. Miracles do happen and we can throw the “any given Sunday” cliche, but it’s hard to see this game being anything but a one-sided trouncing. And if you’re wondering which side, you might not be paying even a modicum of attention to football.
The Giants were huge underdogs when the line opened, but it has only grown with the injury reports. New York formally ruled out RB Saquon Barkley, TE Evan Engram, WR Sterling Shepard, and RB Wayne Gallman on Wednesday. That leaves Golden Tate and some random folks for rookie quarterback Daniel Jones.
The Patriots are a 17-point underdog at DraftKings Sportsbook. The point total sits at 41, which tells you how one-sided this might be. The Giants team point total was sitting at 12.5 but has moved down to 10.5 — and the under still makes a lot of sense. I just don’t know how the Giants will score points.
Your fantasy football implications will likely reside mostly on the Patriots side of things. Daniel Jones and Golden Tate are the only significant fantasy options for the Giants. Meanwhile, the Patriots send out the likes of Tom Brady, Sony Michel, James White, Rex Burkhead, Julian Edelman, and Josh Gordon. There will be plenty to watch.
