The 2019 NFL season is flying along, and we’re officially over halfway through the regular season. The 2020 NFL playoffs kick off on Saturday, January 4th with the first of the wild card games. Until then, there is plenty to sort through as teams look to fight their way into what Frank Gore calls “the tournament.”
We’ll be tracking key news as teams work to clinch their spot in the playoffs. We’ll offer updates on playoff standings, odds including to clinch a playoff berth, to win a division, and to win Super Bowl 54 next February.
Most teams are not out of the playoff picture entirely at the halfway point, but there’s always some truly abysmal teams. Through nine weeks, we can write off teams like the winless Cincinnati Bengals and the one-win Atlanta Falcons, Washington, New York Jets, and Miami Dolphins. I suppose the two-win teams could turn things around, but they are long-shots at best.
We’ll be back each week with updates on odds, standings, and clinching scenarios as the road to Super Bowl 54 rolls along.
UPDATE: Here are the teams that have clinched a playoff berth.
Week 13: New Orleans Saints clinch NFC South title
Week 14: Kansas City Chiefs clinch AFC West title, Baltimore Ravens clinch wild card berth
