The NFL closes out Week 15 on Monday with a game that has big playoff implications for both conferences. The New Orleans Saints host the Indianapolis Colts in the final Monday Night Football game of the season. If the Saints win, they remain in the thick of the race for a first round bye in the NFC. If the Colts win, they move to within a game of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans for the second wild card berth.
We had a whole slew of teams lock up playoff berths on Sunday. The New England Patriots crushed the Cincinnati Bengals after a close first half and locked up another playoff berth. The Patriots can clinch the AFC East this Saturday when they host the Buffalo Bills. Speaking of the Bills, they clinched a wild card berth with their win over Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football.
The Seattle Seahawks clinched a playoff berth and moved into the top seed in the NFC for the time-being. The Seahawks clinched a berth with a win and the Los Angeles Rams losing to the Dallas Cowboys. The San Francisco 49ers lost to the Atlanta Falcons, which dropped them into a tie with Seattle, and the Seahawks hold the tiebreaker edge. The 49ers clinched a playoff berth in spite of the loss thanks to the Rams own loss. The 49ers and Seahawks square off in Week 17.
The Green Bay Packers were the other team to clinch a playoff berth. They held off the Chicago Bears and that coupled with the Rams loss secured Green Bay a spot in the postseason. The Packers remain one game ahead of the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North. The two square off next Monday in Minneapolis. If Green Bay wins, they will clinch the division title.
The Baltimore Ravens played on Thursday, crushing the New York Jets. The Ravens had already clinched a playoff berth, but they added the AFC North title with their win.
