Beat writer wouldn’t rule out Marshawn Lynch as potential replacement for Chris Carson

The Seahawks are shorthanded at running back. Would they consider old friend Marshawn Lynch?

The Seattle Seahawks have lost running backs Chris Carson and C.J. Prosise to injury, with both likely to be out through the playoffs, according to head coach Pete Carroll. The Seahawks have a huge Week 17 matchup coming up against the San Francisco 49ers and will need bodies in the backfield.

There are free agent running backs out there, with beat writer Bob Condotta reporting C.J. Anderson is on the team’s radar. However, Condotta offered up an even more interesting name. He brought up Marshawn Lynch, although his tweet is not clear as to whether he’s just saying anybody will be considered, or if it’s something the Seahawks have already started discussing.

Lynch knows what the Seahawks like to do and has plenty of experience with Russell Wilson in the backfield. It seems a little unlikely at this point, but given the dire straights in the Seahawks backfield, nothing can be ruled out. Beast Mode has a big history against the 49ers, and has a strong playoff history. It would certainly spur plenty of buzz heading into the playoffs.
