The Dallas Cowboys released kicker Brett Maher on Monday and signed Kai Forbath for what they hope is the remainder of their season. Maher has struggled this season, missing ten field goals. It’s been a historically bad season, but Dallas had kept him around — until now.
Nobody likes getting fired, but Dallas did Maher a little dirtier than normal when they released him. According to beat writer Calvin Watkins, the released happened after he returned from a trip to nearby hospital where he visited with sick kids. Players do that kind of stuff on their off day, regularly representing the team at such events. It’s not shocking the timing of it, but it is still a little rough all things considered.
Dirty business. Brett Maher went to the hospital visits today spent time with some sick kids. Got on the bus with some teammates and after arriving at The Star he was cut. pic.twitter.com/yzSlSKpWAN
