The Dallas Cowboys showed off how dynamic and high-scoring their offense can be in their season finale, as they blew out Washington, but the Eagles ended up winning the NFC East and that spelled the end for Jason Garrett, who will be looking for other work after getting fired according to Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer.
The Cowboys big offensive output highlighted Garrett’s inability to keep his team playing consistently. Dallas had the horses to run with any team in the NFL, as they led the league in yards per play, yards per game and were seventh in scoring differential. When you can’t get a team with those statistics in the playoffs, you’ve got a problem and that was mostly on Garrett.
Dallas will likely go on the offensive for a proven commodity, as they have one of the best offenses in the league with a young core and probably don’t want to risk handing that over to a rookie head coach.
Working for Jerry Jones probably isn’t the most coveted spot in the world, as the owner is outspoken and meddles with the best of them, but the money will be there, along with a good team and huge fan-base. Mike McCarthy, and Marvin Lewis have already been interviewed andLincoln Riley, Urban Meyer, Greg Roman, Tony Dungy, Josh McDaniels, Matt Rhule, Dennis Allen, Jim Caldwell and Raheem Morris among others should also be in the discussion.
