Week 9 update: If you’re stumbling across this article in Week 9, here’s the relevant news.

3rd quarter update: Kyle Allen has been cleared to return to the game but Smith remains the WFT starting quarterback.

UPDATE: Allen is questionable to return with an arm injury. Dwayne Haskins is the team’s third quarterback but is inactive with a non-Covid illness.

Week 5 has been a fascinating one and it just got crazier. Washington Football Team quarterback Alex Smith has entered the game in place of starter Kyle Allen. Just prior to the two-minute warning, Allen took a helmet-to-helmet hit on a scramble and had to leave the game.

Allen has not played since November of 2018 when he suffered a devastating leg injury. He fractured his leg and dealt with post-surgery infection. There was concern about just walking again, let alone playing football. And now, Smith is back.

Smith took the field prior to the two minute warning and made his first pass attempt just after the two-minute warning. He completed a pass to JD McKissic who picked up six yards on the play.

Kyle Allen has gone to the locker room to get checked out, per Nicki Jhabvala.
