C.J. Beathard replaces Jimmy Garoppolo to open second half vs. Dolphins

49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo is struggling as his high ankle sprain does not seem full healed.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo struggled in the first half and Kyle Shanahan has benched him for C.J. Beathard. Garoppolo completed 7 of 17 passes for 77 yards and throwing two interceptions.

Garoppolo’s passes looked abysmal, off target and without much zip on them. It would appear his high ankle sprain remains an issue as Shanahan told FOX he made the move to protect Garoppolo.

The 49ers entered the third quarter trailing the Dolphins 30-7. Given how Garoppolo performed in the first half, it did not seem like he was going to be the guy to bring the 49ers back. Beathard gets a crack at it in the third quarter.
