Report: Jets trying to trade Le’Veon Bell

Le’Veon Bell is not happy with his usage and Adam Gase appears to be unhappy with his running back.

It would appear the New York Jets are going to side with their bad head coach over their talented running back. The team is trying to trade Le’Veon Bell, according to Manis Mehta. The 2020 NFL trade deadline is Tuesday, November 3.

This past week in his return from injured reserve, Bell rushed 13 times for 60 yards and caught his lone target for a seven yard reception. Following the game, Bell “liked” multiple tweets that referenced his poor usage in the passing game. Historically, Bell has been one of the leading receivers on his teams, but he has only three receptions on three targets in two games.

Bell has cap hits of $15,468,750 in 2020, $13,406,250 in 2021, and $15,000,000 in 2022, per Over The Cap. If the Jets are able to find a taker, they would carry $2 million in dead money from his signing bonus, and additional dead money for the salary and roster bonuses for games he actually played in.
