There are plenty of lopsided affairs on the docket this week, which is good news for bettors, but trickier for those of us looking for appointment viewing. Here are our picks for the best, worst, and sleeper hit from Week 7 in the NFL.
Best game
I don’t think it’s a stretch here to point to the Steelers vs. Titans as the pick of the week. They’re the last two undefeated teams in the AFC, both loaded with exciting players and scoring more than 30 points per game.
Though the Titans, playing at home, are favored by a point, the Steelers might have a slight edge thanks to their defense. Only one team has broken the 25-point mark against them, and they have the best run defense according to Football Outsiders, which means the Titans probably can’t expect another 212-yard outing from Derrick Henry (or maybe not even 100 yards since the Steelers have yet to allow on triple-digit rusher this season). Something’s got to give.
Worst game
There’s a lot to choose from on this week’s schedule. It doesn’t get much worse than the NFC East this season, and you’ve got the Cowboys and the Washington Football Team squaring off; a thrilling Andy Dalton vs. Kyle Allen matchup. But the worst might be the Bills vs. Jets game. The Jets are simply unwatchable.
Sleeper game
The Lions-Falcons game could be a lot of fun. Firing Dan Quinn worked out pretty well for Atlanta last week; they cruised past the Vikings, with the offense looking a lot like the one that’s been so enticing to fantasy football general managers. The line closed up on this one too, down to as low as -1 for the Falcons on some books. The over/under is set at 55. There should be plenty of scoring to be had in this one, and the Falcons seem primed to play themselves out of top-three draft pick.
