Stephon Gilmore tests positive for Covid-19, Patriots cancel Wednesday practice

The Patriots have their second positive Covid-19 test.

Five days removed from Cam Newton testing positive for Covid-19, New England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore has also tested positive, per Tom Pelissero. The team will place him on the Covid injured reserve list and is canceling their Wednesday practice.

Pro Football Talk is reporting Gilmore was one of the players in close contact with Cam Newton and was on the team’s second of personnel who had such interactions.

Contact tracing will take place as the team sorts out next steps. The Patriots are scheduled to play the Denver Broncos this Sunday in Foxborough.
