Chargers blow 16+ point lead for record fourth straight game

The Chargers are setting records with their ability to blow leads.

The Los Angeles Chargers are firmly in the running for most tortured organization in the league. Falcons fans and a few others might argue against it, but Chargers fans have it rough.

On Sunday, the Chargers lost 31-30 to the Broncos on a last second touchdown pass. What made it all the crazier was that it marked the fourth straight game the Chargers had blown a lead of at least 16 points.

The Chargers are 2-5 and have lost five of their last six games. They blew a 16-point lead to the Jaguars last week, but bounced back to win 39-29 because the Jaguars are still the Jaguars. However in the two games prior to that, they blew a 20-3 lead in a 30-27 loss to the Saints and blew a 24-7 lead in a 38-31 loss to the Buccaneers.

Justin Herbert is impressing and this team has some serious playmakers on both sides of the ball. But, man are they just not closers. If they shut the door on those games, the Chargers are suddenly 5-2 and firmly in the mix for a playoff berth. Instead, they’re 2-5 and have a huge climb ahead of them if they want to get into the postseason.

All I can say for now is, if you get a chance to live-bet Chargers games, that second half point spread might be worth a look whenever the team has a lead!

UPDATE: This win probability chart is quite the roller coaster.
