The Seattle Seahawks held off the Arizona Cardinals in the fourth quarter to secure a critical NFC West victory. The Seahawks won 28-21 thanks in large part to a late safety that allowed them to put the game away. Carlos Dunlap got a fourth down sack of Kyler Murray to end what was another entertaining Seahawks-Cardinals game.
Seattle improved to 7-3 with the victory while Arizona drops to 6-4. The Seahawks hold a half game lead on the Los Angeles Rams pending the Rams Monday Night Football game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. More importantly, Seattle secured a split of the season series with Arizona, thus avoiding losing that tie breaker.
Here’s what the NFC playoff picture looks like following the Seahawks win over the Cardinals. If the Rams win on Monday they’ll move into first place in the NFC West and the Seahawks will drop to the No. 6 seed. If the Rams lose on Monday, they’ll drop into the No. 7 seed due to division record.
1. Green Bay Packers, 7-2
2. New Orleans Saints, 7-2
3. Seattle Seahawks, 7-3
4. Philadelphia Eagles, 3-5-1
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 7-3
6. Los Angeles Rams, 6-3
7. Arizona Cardinals, 6-4
Outside looking in: Chicago Bears (5-5), Minnesota Vikings (4-5), Detroit Lions (4-5), San Francisco 49ers (4-6)
