In the biggest move of free agency, the best quarterback in NFL history is expected to choose Tampa Bay to continue his career.
It’s a move many will find stunning, and it will certainly look different to have the 42-year old quarterback anywhere after his legendary run in New England. But he heads to a team with plenty of talent and can compete right away with the right person running the offense.
Cigar City is a perfect fit for the six-time Super Bowl winner, who will have targets such as Mike Evans, Breshad Perriman, and Cameron Brate to find. He also might be the key to unlocking the untapped talent of O.J. Howard so far.
Following Jameis Winston’s legendary 2019 season with 5109 yards with 33 touchdowns and 30 interceptions, the Bucs need a quarterback that can give them consistent play. Winston leaves Tampa after 121 touchdowns and a massive 88 interceptions in four seasons.
There’s a defense that has plenty of talent, but was put in awful situations last year thanks to the turnovers. If Brady can limit those, and find a way to use the huge targets he’ll have running over the middle of the field, there’s no reason the Bucs can’t be a Super Bowl contender in 2020.
Plus there’s sunshine, palm trees, plenty of waterfront housing stretching from downtown’s Hillsborough Bay that feeds right into the Gulf of Mexico... you can find worse places to live as a celebrity quarterback with an internationally famous wife. If it’s good enough for Derek Jeter and John Cena, it might be a perfect fit for a Super Bowl champion for possibly the seventh time.
