The Jacksonville Jaguars are talking with teams about a potential trade of running back Leonard Fournette, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The Jaguars traded Calais Campbell and Nick Foles earlier this offseason as they move into a potential rebuilding period. Fournette is due $4,167,393 in base salary this season, and the team has a fifth year option they can still exercise between now and May.

Fournette is a big, physical back, but injuries have kept him from reaching his full potential. He played in a career high 15 games last season and rushed for 1,152 yards on 4.3 yards per carry. His backup was Ryquell Armstead, a fifth round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Armstead rushed eight times for 42 yards in Week 4 and then started in place of Fournette in Week 17 — rushing ten times for 33 yards and catching five of nine targets for 52 yards and a touchdown.

If Fournette were dealt, Armstead would be the early favorite for the starting role. Of course, with the draft coming up this week, plenty could change for Armstead’s situation. If Fournette is dealt, that will shake up another running back situation, leaving fantasy football owners waiting to see what comes of all this.
