The Dallas Cowboys are looking to add depth at wide receiver ahead of the 2020 season. While they re-signed Amari Cooper to a five-year, $100 million deal and have Michael Gallup signed through 2021, they lost Randall Cobb and Jason Witten in free agency. One report confirmed that they could target a slot receiver like the Arizona Cardinals’ Christian Kirk.
Kirk, 23, notched 68 receptions for 703 receiving yards and three scores in his second NFL season last year. However, he could see his production drop now that Arizona has acquired DeAndre Hopkins from the Houston Texans via trade. Arizona needs help on the offensive line, but could still opt to draft a wideout in what is a deep receiver class. But that doesn’t mean the Cardinals are willing to trade Kirk.
Marquise Goodwin is another player who could be a potential target for Dallas. The San Francisco 49ers receiver is one of the fastest players in the NFL, but has only logged 581 receiving yards and five scores over the past two seasons. He’s dealt with his fair share of injuries and has been inconsistent catching the football throughout his career. Goodwin might not be an elite weapon, but he could be a solid third or fourth option in the passing game because of his breakaway speed.
Neither Goodwin or Kirk will make Dallas more offensively talented than it was last year. Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott remain the most important pieces. The Cowboys want to give that duo all the help they can get though. Goodwin or Kirk would make better WR3 than Cedrick Wilson at this point.
