The NFL is set to announce its 2020 schedule sometime this week, and we now know it will not include any games outside the United States. The NFL’s United Kingdom twitter account announced on Monday all 2020 games will be in the US in order to focus on the well-beeing of players, personnel and fans.
The league has been building its overseas opportunities with games in the UK and Mexico. The league had one game planned in Mexico City, and four games in London with the Cardinals, Falcons, Jaguars, and Dolphins the four “home teams” for the games.
The NFL is expected to release its schedule by Friday, with plans for a normal 17-week schedule culminating in Super Bowl 55 on February 7th. The league has been working on some contingencies if the season is delayed, including the Super Bowl being played as late as the last Sunday in February. For the time being, however, the league is moving forward as though the season will start on time.
