Titans dominate Colts 30-3 in AFC South Madden Simulation — 3/31/20
Tennessee jumped out to an early lead in this one, and the Colts didn’t appear to ever have a chance. Most lineups atop the leaderboard rostered five Titans, with Marlon Mack ($8,400; 4.4 DKFP) the lone Colt. T.Y. Hilton ($9,000) was actually rostered in 54.4% of lineups, but failed to even register a sack. The Titans D/ST ($4,200; 21 DKFP) was a crucial value play, racking up two sacks, two picks and blocking a punt for a touchdown. Surprisingly, Derrick Henry ($10,800; 1.4 DKFP) hardly contributed to the onslaught. Ryan Tannehill ($10,000; 19.7 DKFP) and Delanie Walker ($7,000; 15.1 DKFP) were the stack that brought you to the top of the leaderboard.
Chargers edge Titans in Madden simulation — 4/6/20
Touchdown regression. You couldn’t read a single thing about Mike Williams ($7,400; 38.8 DKFP) coming into 2019 without hearing about how the wideout was sure to see his touchdown numbers normalize last season. They did, too. After getting into the end zone 10 times in his sophomore campaign, Williams scored just twice this past year. However, virtual Mike Williams would have no such issues on Monday. The former first-round pick crossed the goal line three times this afternoon in Los Angeles’ 24-21 victory over Tennessee. Williams also racked up 118 yards, which actually ranked second of the team to Keenan Allen ($9,400; 23.7 DKFP), who registered seven catches for 137 yards of his own.
Chiefs blowout Titans in Madden simulation — 4/10/20
It’s strange to even type out, but Patrick Mahomes ($11,200; 16.6 DKFP) had not yet played well in a simulation coming into Friday. In fact, the reigning Super Bowl MVP had tossed five interceptions in two games. Ugly stuff. However, in this evening’s 27-13 victory over Tennessee, Mahomes finally thrived and he did so with his two favorite targets helping to carry the load. Travis Kelce ($9,800; 27.5 DKFP) absolutely abused the Titans’ secondary all night long, racking up seven catches for 115 yards and a touchdown. Tyreek Hill ($10,200; 17.5 DKFP) also showed up in a big way, ripping off a 75-yard touchdown run in the dying seconds of the first half. To put it plainly: Kansas City’s offense was fantastic.
Titans rally past Bills in Madden simulation — 4/19/20
If there’s been a consistent theme to taking down these Madden contests, it’s been finding the right value at wide receiver. This afternoon, it was actually about finding the right values. Tennessee defeated Buffalo by a score of 23-13 on Sunday, with a late touchdown by Adam Humphries ($3,400; 10.9 DKFP) acting as the finishing blow. However, Humphries wasn’t the only low-end WR that made some noise. Teammate Corey Davis ($6,000; 15.2 DKFP) finished the game with three receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown, while Robert Foster ($3,600; 15.5 DKFP) – who was just 7.3% owned in Showdown – registered four catches for 55 yards and a touchdown of his own.
Tannehill and the Titans cruise in Tuesday’s simulation — 4/21/20
The Titans comfortably waltzed their way to a 34-10 victory over the Cardinals in Tuesday’s simulated game. While the final score jives with what we’d expect from a real-life matchup of the two teams, the Titans gameplan did not. While Derrick Henry ($9,800; 16.5 DKFP) had a solid 93-yard game, Tennessee relied heavily on their passing game, especially the Ryan Tannehill ($10,600; 21.52 DKFP) to Delanie Walker ($7,800; 21.3 DKFP) connection. Tannehill threw for 241 yards and three TDs, and Walker caught seven passes for 83 yards and one TD.
A.J. Brown has a big game as the Titans’ defense stifles the Seahawks — 4/24/20
A.J. Brown ($8,200) was a monster for Tennessee, making him the optimal play in the Captain’s slot by a mile. He had over 100 receiving yards and hauled in a touchdown to finish with 25.8 DKFP. Corey Davis also had a solid game, ending up with 15.9 DKFP and touchdown of his own. The two receivers accounted for basically all of the Titans’ offense. Will Dissly ($7,400) had the only decent game for the Seahawks. He had a team-high 76 receiving yards and scored 18.6 DKFP. It wasn’t nearly enough for Seattle, who fell to the Titans by a final score of 19-14.
Titans outlast Bears in Madden simulation– 4/27/20
Look, I don’t think anyone was expecting a classic between Tennessee and Chicago on Sunday night, but it’s never ideal when the winning team’s most notable player was its kicker. Still, that was the exact result we got in the Titans’ 19-16 victory. Ryan Succop ($3,800; 16.0 DKFP) nailed four field goal attempts to lead the way for Tennessee, while Corey Davis ($6,600; 14.7 DKFP) scored the squad’s lone touchdown. Things were at least a little more exciting on the Bears’ side of the stat sheet. In particular, Allen Robinson ($10,200; 27.2 DKFP) was a stud, registering six catches, 122 yards and a touchdown in the losing effort.
Patriots smother Packers in Madden simulation — 4/29/20
I am not sure if the simulated Rodgers ($11,600; 31.76 DKFP) found out the Packers drafted a QB in the first-round to replace him in the real NFL Draft, but he sure played like it in the 45-13 Green Bay victory. Rodgers went for 319 yards and four touchdowns, hitting Davante Adams ($11,200; 33.2 DKFP) four times for 142 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Adams was rostered at 7.5% in the captain spot, where he went for 49.8 DKFP in the winning lineup. Current Chicago Bear Jimmy Graham ($7,600; 23.9 DKFP) snagged the other two touchdown passes from Rodgers, finishing with 79 yards on four grabs.
Patriots smother Packers in Madden simulation — 5/2/20
Ginn ($5,200; 19.5 DKFP) turned in a nice value performance. He only had three catches, but two of them went for scores as the Saints downed the Titans by a final score of 28-20. Even though he had two scores, Ginn wasn’t even the best value receiver from New Orleans. At a cheaper price, Tre’Quan Smith ($4,600; 21.5 DKFP) outscored Ginn on six catches for 95 yards and a touchdown. With big games from cheap New Orleans’ receivers, Drew Brees ($11,400; 23.06 DKFP) inevitably had a big game. In addition to the three touchdown passes, he had 279 passing yards.
Jets double-up Titans in Madden simulation — 5/4/20
Well, that wasn’t exactly the most exciting edition of Madden After Dark we’ve ever seen, but there were some notable performances in New York’s 20-10 victory over Tennessee. First and foremost, we have to talk about Le’Veon Bell ($8,800; 20.7 DKFP). For the longest time, we were getting nothing from the former Steelers’ RB; but, with less than two minutes to go in the fourth quarter, Bell broke free just outside the red zone for a game-cementing touchdown. Bell would finish with four receptions and 117 total scrimmage yards. As for the Titans, A.J. Brown ($8,400; 20.4 DKFP) was the lone bright spot in a dreary offensive performance, with the rookie catching five passes for 124 yards.
49ers smother Titans in Madden simulation– 5/7/20
With the majority of the Madden world assuming Tevin Coleman ($8,000; 12.4 DKFP) was the San Francisco player to own this evening, it turned out to be an even more obvious answer. George Kittle ($9,000; 24.9 DKFP) was an unstoppable force in the 49ers’ eventual 21-14 victory over Tennessee, hauling in eight passes for 89 yards an a touchdown. Heck, Kittle even caught the two-point. conversion seconds after scoring said TD. Still, this isn’t exactly an unprecedented performance from the All-Pro tight end. Kittle’s now registered eight touchdown receptions in his past eight games, a span that’s seen the TE exceeded 20.0 DKFP three times.
Ravens use late push to defeat Titans in Madden simulation– 5/10/20
Death. Taxes. Lamar Jackson ($11,400; 29.3 DKFP) scoring at least 20.0 DKFP in a Madden simulation. At this point, there’s really no way to fade the reigning MVP in Showdown contests, right? Jackson came into this evening’s matchup against Tennessee having eclipsed the 20-point plateau in each of his past six games and that streak would continue in a 27-24 Baltimore victory. The Louisville product did everything in the winning effort, tossing a pair of touchdowns while also collecting another on the ground to go along with his 82 rushing yards. As for the Titans, Derrick Henry ($10,000; 21.4 DKFP) was the standout, thanks specifically to a 59-yard rushing TD in the second quarter.
Titans’ defense cannot contain Mike Gesicki– 5/13/20
This game was fairly one-sided most of the way. The Dolphins led the Titans 20-0 in the fourth quarter although Tennessee did put a couple of fourth-quarter touchdowns on the board to make the game interesting. Miami held on to win 20-15. Gesicki ($7,800; 24.9 DKFP) accounted for most of the Dolphins’ offense. He accounted for 139 of their 234 receiving yards and also scored a touchdown. As a value play, fantasy darling Patrick Laird ($1,000; 13.3 DKFP) ended up being a slate breaker. He had 53 total yards and scored a touchdown to be a difference-maker at low ownership.
A.J. Brown and Derrick Henry come up big at Titans power past Giants– 5/15/20
The Titans-Giants matchup didn’t seem set up to be a high-scoring contest, but both teams came out strong with the Titans earning a 31-20 win in our first simulation on Friday. Derrick Henry ($9,600; 23.3 DKFP) lived up to his “Freight Train” X-Factor powering his way for 132 rushing yards and a touchdown. He got lots of help from A.J. Brown ($8,000; 28.6 DKFP) as well who had 126 yards and a touchdown on his eight catches. In a losing effort, Daniel Jones ($10,400; 22.12 DKFP) and Golden Tate ($9,200; 26.4 DKFP) had solid games but Saquon Barkley ($10,000; 4.6 DKFP) struggled badly against a Titans DST keyed in on stopping the Giants’ star RB.
Titans rally for 15 fourth-quarter points to beat Panthers, 18-14– 5/17/20
The Titans trailed 14-3 headed into the fourth quarter but scored two touchdowns and added a two-point conversion to stun the Panthers. Ryan Tannehill ($10,400; 16.24 DKFP) threw both scores and also the two-point attempt. He finished with 161 yards in a game where both teams relied heavily on their RBs. A.J. Brown ($8,200; 13.5 DKFP) caught one of the touchdowns while Anthony Firkser ($1,000; 7.6 DKFP) hauled in the other. For the Panthers, D.J. Moore ($8,800; 18.6 DKFP) was the high scorer with four catches for 86 yards and a touchdown.
Titans outlast Texans 21-16 in virtual Tennessee — 5/21/20
In this Madden simulation, Tennessee was able to take down Houston in just a five-point game. Ryan Tannehill ($10,200) was the catalyst, throwing for two touchdowns and rushing for one. He scored 21.28 DKFP. Deshaun Watson (CPT; $16,500) did his best to keep the Texans in it, throwing for 275 yards and two scores. He went for 32.1 DKFP in the Captain’s spot. The rest of the winning lineup included DeAndre Hopkins ($10,400), Will Fuller ($6,800), Adam Humphries ($3,200) and Keke Coutee ($1,800). This team was incredibly chalky, leading to a 38-way tie for first place.
Jaguars offense runs wild in Tuesday’s simulation– 5/26/20
Three different Jaguars topped 30 DKFP during their 36-31 simulated win over AFC South rival Tennessee Tuesday. DJ Chark ($9,200; 39.1 DKFP) led the way with 191 receiving yards and two TDs, but he couldn’t have got that done without Gardner Minshew’s ($10,400; 33.08 DKFP) 332 passing yards and four TDs. And their success wasn’t limited to the air – Leonard Fournette ($9,000; 34.7 DKFP) racked up 109 yards and a TD on the ground, in addition to catching another TD. The Titans were led by A.J. Brown ($8,600; 30.7 DKFP), who put up 137 receiving yards and a TD.
Derrick Henry finally comes through in 29-20 win over Lions– 5/29/20
It hasn’t been often that Henry ($9,400) has been worth paying his hefty salary for, as he entered this game averaging just 8 DKFP with 53.8 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Anyone who took the chance on him Friday afternoon was handsomely rewarded, as he went off for 151 rushing yards and two touchdowns. 8.3% took him in the captain spot in the Showdown contest, which nets them 45.1 DKFP while anyone who flexed them saw 30.1 fantasy points. Marvin Jones Jr ($7,600) had a solid game for the Lions, making seven receptions for 118 yards and a touchdown, good for 27.8 DKFP.
Trey Quinn lifts Redskins to 27-24 win over Titans– 5/31/20
The Redskins have been an extremely good offense in the Madden simulations and Sunday afternoon was no different. It was Quinn ($5,600/$8,400) who went off for them this time, making six receptions for 116 yards and two touchdowns, good for 32.6 DKFP in the flex spot and 48.9 at captain. He was only 5.9% owned in the captain spot, which unsurprisingly landed him in the winning lineup in Showdown. Dwayne Haskins ($10,400) threw for 374 yards and three touchdowns, giving him yet another solid game with 29.9 DKFP. In the loss, A.J. Brown ($8,800) did his part for the Titans, nabbing two touchdowns and 94 yards on just three receptions for 24.4 DKFP.
Questionable play calling hurt the Titans in overtime– 6/2/20
The Titans played the Bengals in a thrilling overtime game, but the ending was a head scratcher. Down 30-27 in overtime, the Titans had the ball on fourth and 12. It seemed like an obvious passing situation to attempt to keep the game alive. Instead, Tennessee ran a draw play up the middle for three yards, ending the game. Neither QB hit the passing bonus although they both came close. Andy Dalton ($9,800; 19.86 DKFP) had 299 passing yards and Ryan Tannehill ($10,600; 19.6 DKFP) put up 290 yards. For skill position players, A.J. Green ($10,400; 18.2 DKFP) had the best fantasy game with a touchdown and 82 receiving yards.
Titans top Broncos in Madden sim lacking offense– 6/3/20
As you might’ve expected when these two teams got together, offense was at a premium in Tennessee’s 20-7 victory. Ryan Tannehill ($10,800; 16.92 DKFP) tossed a pair of touchdowns, hitting Delanie Walker ($8,000; 14 DKFP) and Dion Lewis ($3,000; 15.1 DKFP). While the Titans may have one of the most dominant forces in the NFL running the ball, it hasn’t translated to the simulations, and has led to more snaps for Lewis — who was one of the game’s top values with five receptions. Despite the Broncos being limited to seven points, Courtland Sutton ($9,200; 19.1 DKFP) was actually the most crucial piece of the slate. He was 12.3% owned at CPT, and his 28.65 DKFP were needed to help the winning lineup.
