Falcons win a shootout over Texans in Madden simulation — 4/2/20
We finally got the QB duel we’ve been waiting for in these Madden simulations. Matt Ryan ($9,400; 23.6 DKFP) and Deshaun Watson ($9,600; 21.3 DKFP) were phenomenal all evening long in Atlanta’s eventual 24-17 victory over Houston. In fact, it was almost unsettling when either would simply throw an incomplete pass. Ryan, in particular, finished with just one such mistake in the winning effort, racking up 290 yards through the air with three passing touchdowns. As for Watson, the Clemson product rushed for 42 yards on top of his pair of aerial TDs. DeAndre Hopkins ($10,400; 18.7 DKFP) was also effective, registering six catches for 67 yards and a score.
Seahawks roll in Tuesday’s simulated game — 4/7/20
A late Falcons’ TD made it look close, but the Seahawks comfortably romped to a 27-21 win in Tuesday’s simulated showdown. Don’t tell real-life Pete Carroll, but this is what happens when you let Russell Wilson ($11,400; 20.06 DKFP) and the passing game control the offense. Wilson got credit for “only” two passing TDs, but that’s only because a sideline TD toss to DK Metcalf ($5,000; 18.1 DKFP) was officially ruled a lateral – a tough break for the 67% of users who had Russ in their lineups. Wilson also logged 134 passing yards and 67 yards rushing. The box score credits Metcalf with three catches for 29 yards and one receiving TD on top of his two-yard “rushing” TD.
Rams best Falcons in Madden simulation — 4/10/20
While it’s true that the rosters DraftKings is using for its Madden streams haven’t been updated since the Super Bowl, Robert Woods’ ($7,800; 23.7 DKFP) performance on Friday afternoon really seemed like a direct response to yesterday’s real-life NFL news. Consistently, Woods produced when Brandin Cooks ($6,200; 1.6 DKFP) was sidelined in 2019. So, forgive me if Woods going off for two touchdowns in Los Angeles’ 14-10 victory the day after Cooks was traded seems like quite the coincidence. Heck, the weird storylines don’t even stop there, as today actually marks Woods’ 28th birthday. Is narrative street a thing in simulations? Just asking for a friend.
Falcons squeak out a 17-14 victory over Bears in Madden simulation — 4/17/20
Matt Ryan ($11,000) locked onto Calvin Ridley ($9,600) to take care of the big plays in this game and the WR2 delivered. On his four receptions, Ridley went for 110 yards and a touchdown, good for 24 DKFP and 36 in the captain’s spot. Ryan would finish with 232 passing yards in total and two touchdowns thrown. Despite being one of the most expensive players in the game, Julio Jones ($10,600) only pulled down five receptions for 49 yards. For the Bears, Mitch Trubisky ($9,600) was dominant on the ground, rushing for 98 yards while tossing two touchdowns and 112 passing yards.
Robby Anderson and the Jets dominate Falcons in Madden sim — 4/20/20
Now a member of the Panthers, Anderson ($8,600; 43.2 DKFP) scored every offensive touchdown for the Jets in this sim. Atlanta’s secondary was exposed, with Anderson posting a 3-159-3 line, good for 64.8 DKFP in the captain spot, where he was 3.4% owned. Sam Darnold ($10,000; 24.22 DKFP) was obviously a nice stacking piece, but Matt Ryan ($11,200; 24.76 DKFP) was still slightly more productive. The Falcons spread it around, with Devonta Freeman ($8,200; 18.4 DKFP) and Russell Gage ($3,400; 14.8 DKFP) each catching touchdowns, and Julio Jones ($10,800; 24 DKFP) going for 141 yards through the air. The Falcons were driving with a chance to get back in the game, but Jets’ DST ($4,600; 12 DKFP) brought a fumble back to the house, sealing the victory.
Falcons edge Raiders in Madden simulation — 4/26/20
It was a game that started off slowly, but by the time Atlanta defeated Oakland 27-24 in OT, we’d all seen our share of offensive fireworks. The biggest performance of the day belonged to Julio Jones ($10,600; 36.4 DKFP), who hauled in seven passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns in the victory. Still, Jones was not alone in lighting up the scoreboard. Matt Ryan ($11,200; 23.2 DKFP) used the extra frame to reach the 300-yard passing bonus; Derek Carr ($10,200; 21.7 DKFP) continued his streak of throwing multiple touchdown passes in each simulation; and Darren Waller ($7,400; 26.4 DKFP) paid off his chalky ownership with a 60-yard hail mary touchdown reception to end the first-half.
Falcons blow out Jaguars in Madden simulation — 4/28/20
Atlanta’s 31-10 victory over Jacksonville initially looked like it was going to be pretty normal. Matt Ryan ($11,200; 16.4 DKFP) had been piecing together a solid – if unspectacular – afternoon of football, leading his team to a seven-point lead in the fourth quarter. Well, that’s about where the wheels came off for the Jaguars’ offense and the Falcons D/ST ($4,200; 21.0 DKFP) took over. First, with about four minutes left in regulation, Atlanta stripped Gardner Minshew ($10,200; 8.3 DKFP) of the football and returned it all the way for a score. Then, on the next drive, Deion Jones stepped in front of a Minshew pass and took it 77 yards in the other direction for another defensive touchdown. Again, it was a weird one.
Colts defense grounds Falcons in 12-7 victory — 5/1/20
Fridays are for defense apparently, since the DSTs have started May with a strong showing in the first two simulations of the month. The Colts’ DST ($4,200; 8.0 DKFP) was only 0.3% owned in the Captain’s slot, but forced an interception and a safety while narrowly missing a shutout when Devonta Freeman ($7,800; 14.4 DKFP) scored a late touchdown. The Falcons’ offense was absent until the fourth quarter while Jacoby Brissett ($9,800; 13.88 DKFP), Eric Ebron ($7,200; 14.4 DKFP) and T.Y. Hilton ($10,000; 15.2 DKFP) all had decent games for Indy. Each of these teams is now 4-5 in their nine Madden sims.
Saquon Barkley leads Giants past Falcons in Madden sim — 5/7/20
Barkley ($9,400; 23.7 DKFP) was an extremely popular play at 77.1% ownership, but a necessary one, rushing for 100 yards and a touchdown, along with three receptions for 17 yards. Saquon was 29.9% owned in the captain slot, but the 35.55 DKFP were still required in the 183-lineup tie for first place in the showdown contest. Daniel Jones ($10,000; 12.48 DKFP) also hit Sterling Shepard ($4,800; 15.4 DKFP) for a touchdown in the 17-10 victory. Russell Gage ($3,400; 24.9 DKFP) was still tremendous value for the Falcons, finishing with four grabs for 119 yards and Atlanta’s lone touchdown.
Devonta Freeman feasts as Falcons defeat Redskins, 27-17 — 5/9/20
In a game that was a one-score contest until the final minutes, the Falcons got a 10-point win over Washington behind a monster game from Devonta Freeman ($8,600; 21.4 DKFP), who racked up over 100 yards on the ground and added seven catches for 42 yards. He was stopped at the 1-yard line on one of his long runs, which was followed by one of three touchdown passes for Matt Ryan ($11,200; 19.68 DKFP). Ryan stayed away from Julio Jones ($10,800; 4.7 DKFP), disappointing those who paid up for him, and instead went to Austin Hooper ($8,000; 14.5 DKFP), Russell Gage ($3,200; 7.8 DKFP) and WR4 Justin Hardy. In the loss, Dwayne Haskins Jr. ($10,000; 14.98 DKFP) threw for 212 yards and two touchdowns.
Falcons outlast 24-20 against Buffalo– 5/14/20
Atlanta managed to beat the Bills in this Madden simulation, with Calvin Ridley ($6,600) leading the way. He caught eight balls for 118 yards and a touchdown, scoring 28.8 DKFP. For Buffalo, it was Josh Allen ($15,900 CPT) who did his best to get the team a win. He scored a touchdown passing and rushing, scoring 36.33 DKFP in the captain spot. The rest of the winning lineup contained Matt Ryan ($11,400), John Brown ($9,800), Tyler Kroft ($5,200), and Jaeden Graham ($1,000). Graham was just 1% owned, leading to a solo-winner.
Falcons dramatically defeat Patriots in Madden simulation– 5/17/20
Best Madden simulation ever? In a rematch of one of the most famous Super Bowls of all time, it was Atlanta coming out on top over New England in dramatic fashion. With the contest tied at 31-31 with just four seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, Devonta Freeman ($8,400; 42.8 DKFP) ripped off a 75-yard game-winning touchdown to give the Falcons a 38-31 victory. The even crazier part? It was Freeman’s second TD run of over 65 yards on the slate. The running back would eventually finish with 181 total yards on the ground to go along with three scores. It was enough to overcome a fantastic Tom Brady ($11,400; 30.9 DKFP) performance, with the veteran tossing four touchdowns of his own.
Saints’ star trio shines in simulated victory — 5/19/20
Just like during the regular season, Drew Brees ($10,800; 35.46 DKFP), Michael Thomas ($11,200; 26.3 DKFP) and Alvin Kamara ($9,200; 23.1 DKFP) dominated as the Saints’ offense proved too much for the Falcons in Tuesday’s 35-21 simulated game. Brees threw for 314 yards and five TDs, two of which were caught by Kamara. Thomas caught a third as he scampered to 115 yards on six catches. Another way this game mirrored real life? Matt Ryan ($9,800; 21.64 DKFP) was good, but not good enough to overcome inferior surrounding talent and some questionable play calls. Matty Ice finished with 291 yards, two TDs and a completed two-point conversion.
Demarcus Robinson explodes in 24-21 win over Falcons — 5/22/20
Only 4.5% of the lineup used Robinson ($6,900 CPT) in the captain’s spot but those who did were bringing home some DK Dollars. Robinson made a ridiculous 10 receptions for 155 yards and a touchdown, giving him 51.75 in the captain spot and his best performance by far in the Madden simulations. He accounted for 55% of the 277 passing yards from Mahomes, who ended up with 15 DKFP of his own. The game by Robinson will overshadow a solid afternoon from Matt Ryan ($10,600), who threw for three touchdowns and 243 yards, good for 21.72 DKFP.
Julio Jones torches Eagles in simulated win — 5/26/20
Jones ($11,000; 38.2 DKFP) went off for 146 receiving yards and two TDs in the Falcons’ simulated 23-20 win over Philadelphia Tuesday. Just to keep things interesting, he also added eight yards rushing. Matt Ryan ($10,600; 23.12 DKFP) had a typically productive day, throwing for 328 yards and two TDs. The Eagles’ Carson Wentz ($10,000; 19.26 DKFP) managed to score once on the ground, in addition to his 204 yards and one TD passing, but his comeback effort eventually fell short.
Falcons win shootout with Dolphins 38-35– 5/28/20
This Madden simulation was incredibly high-scoring and produced tons of fantasy goodness. DeVante Parker (CPT; $14,100) almost won this game by himself. He had over 200 yards receiving and two touchdowns, resulting in a whopping 67.2 DKFP in the captain spot. Matt Ryan ($11,400) keyed the Falcons’ win, passing for 313 yards and four scores. He finished with 31.52 DKFP. The rest of the winning lineup contained Ryan Fitzpatrick ($10,600), Devonta Freeman ($8,600), Clive Walford ($2,000), and Justin Hardy ($1,800). Walford came in at just 1% ownership, and resulted in a unique winner.
Late field goal lifts Falcons over Ravens in Madden sim — 6/4/20
Matt Ryan ($10,400; 29.64) DKFP out-dueled Lamar Jackson ($11,400; 27.28 DKFP), with a last-minute field goal the difference maker in Atlanta’s 24-21 victory. Ryan ripped off 391 yards and three touchdowns through the air, finishing with 44.46 DKFP in the CPT spot for the winning lineup at 8% ownership. Ryan focused on Calvin Ridley ($6,600; 25 DKFP) as his primary target, finishing with a 5-110-1 line. Russell Gage ($4,400; 17.3 DKFP) was also a valuable piece, going for over 80 yards and a touchdown. Jackson scored just once through the air, limiting the upside of other Baltimore plays, but ran in two touchdowns himself to keep his own value high.
Bengals come up short on offense to start Tuesday’s slate — 6/10/20
Tyler Eifert ($6,400; 15.6 DKFP) scored a touchdown in garbage time to make the final score 20-13, but this game wasn’t all that competitive. That was the only real offense the Bengals were able to muster against the Falcons in a fairly one-sided game. Devonta Freeman ($8,600; 19.6 DKFP) scored both of the touchdowns for Atlanta and was the only player on the team to score double-digit DKFP. The first game of the slate didn’t deliver much fantasy production.
